Thanks for Asking – Blog Updates

Blog thoughts are a funny thing. Sometimes I go off on a rant about something, and then never think about that thing again. Apparently venting about it lets me release my thoughts into the universe and move on. But sometimes I dwell on a subject, doing something about it, or more likely, overthinking it. I am flattered to have folks that are interested enough to follow my blog, and tickled when someone asks, “Hey, how’s the 1000 Things journaling going?” or “Did you find a pillow that helps you sleep better?” So here’s the rest of the stories – or the rest of the stories so far – about my blogs from earlier this year.

22 in 22 In the early days of 2022, I made a list of 22 things I wanted to accomplish in 2022. Some were fun to work on – read 48 books, and some were not – schedule MOHS surgery to have skin cancer cut out of my face. Some have been easy to measure – donate blood four times, and some have not – photo scanning project. (Does sitting on the couch thinking of the best way to organize said photos count?) Overall, my 22 are a work in progress, but I review the list a couple times a month, and I’m getting there.

To Sleep, Perchance to Dream Oh how I wish I had good news to report here. Alas, I do not. I was certain that the NASA inspired nuzzle pillow was going to be the ticket to a sleep so restful that I would awaken feeling (and looking) as fresh as a daisy. Despite its advertised promise, I did not find that its ‘thousands of nano-coil fibers’ supported my neck and cradled my head for a feeling of plush weightlessness. AND according to the fine print that I kind of/sort of read, the nuzzle had a 75 day money back guarantee (not a 90 day money back guarantee like the Caspar, the Purple, and the DreamCloud). Suffice it to say, I’m currently sleeping on a $10.99 pillow from Meijer while the pillow of the astronauts is now gracing the bed in our guest room.

Journey of 1000 Things – Part 1 I have committed to answering 20 questions a week until I hit the 1000 mark. So far, I have answered approximately 648 questions. I say approximately, because I had to give myself permission to skip an occasional question so as not to get bogged down. I simply do not have an answer to some inquiries, like #239. The one thing I believe is real, that most people consider fake is… I’m sharing my weekly 20 inquiries via email with seven other friends, and that has definitely helped me to keep on track. As an obliger, I do better when I am accountable to others, than when I am accountable to just myself.

Well, People, We’ve Had a Good Run After subscribing to People magazine for over 30 years, I let my subscription lapse in May. I have to admit, I haven’t missed it one bit.

Midnight – A Dog’s Life My beloved little Midnight passed on in April. I miss him every damn day! Thank you to those who have asked about us, and/or his fur sister, Sunny. We are all doing fine. She has adjusted to being an only dog, perhaps for the first time in her life, at the ripe ol’ age of 12? 14? We don’t really know. I will say, there are perks to being an only dog, and she takes full advantage.

Breakdown at the Cart Corral I was surprsied about the strong response to my rant about people that take their cart to the cart corral and then deposit it in the wrong lane. Maybe I shouldn’t have been. People overwhelming agreed with me. But then who are all the people who are causing havoc?

Shortly after posting my blog about cart chaos, I was shopping at Polly’s Country Market in Chelsea. (Not my regular store.) Wow! They’ve got it going on in their parking lot. They don’t even have signs labeling their cart corral lanes, but small carts were on the left, large carts were on the right, and every single one was neatly nested. They either have their customers trained well, or my cousin, Nancy, had just passed through their parking lot.

So that’s it for now. Next week I’ll be floating in a sensory deprivation float tank – one of the things on my list of 22 things to do in 2022. I’m guessing I might have something to share after that experience. I’ll let you know.

  1. 😂😂😂 Thanks for the shout-out, Sue!! I have very few compulsions or idiosyncrasies in life but the cart corral chaos at least makes me feel I’ve done a good deed for the day AND for the carts employee! As I often go to the market with my granddaughters, they are now also cart corral nazis‼️ They sometimes fetch ‘em before I’ve even noticed them.

    Keep on writing❣️ Hugs…Nan
