Before social media, smart phones, laptops, and sticky notes, you were not my other half (MOH). You were you and I was me. And even though the first ‘selfie’ had not yet been taken, we turned our camera around, aimed in the general direction of our faces, and took our picture.

We got married, bought a house, and got some cats.

We had a kid, got a dog, got another dog, celebrated some birthdays, went camping, and got another dog.

We had some fun along the way.

We had some disagreements along the way. Wisely, I didn’t take pictures.
There were roses. A dozen red roses every Valentine’s Day. On our anniversary a dozen red roses, and a white rose for each year we were married. I think it was at 25 years that I mentioned the extravagance and said something about scaling back. I probably should have just said thank you.

We moved again, our kid left us, we had some health scares, but survived a pandemic – so far.

Thirty-five years. Its a long time. I thought my parents were married ‘forever’. It was my forever at the time. They actually were married only 36 years due to my dad’s untimely death. I’m keenly aware of that number as we mark each passing year. I am thankful for every day that we have together. I love you. Thanks for spending your days, and years, with me.

Oh my gosh! This is so sweet. Happy anniversary you two. I hope you have many, many more.
