Bright Walls in Jackson

Both my son and my other half (MOH) work weekends. My son works every other Saturday and Sunday. MOH works two out of every three Saturdays. So its a treat for them both to have a Saturday off and do something together as a family. This Saturday, my brother joined us and we took in the Bright Walls tour in Jackson, MI.

According to their website: Bright Walls is a public art and mural festival founded and run by volunteer members of the Jackson Young Professionals. In just three years, plus a pandemic, the festival has hosted artists from across the globe and brought 40 murals to the downtown district — creating a new destination in our community.

Although we are only about 15 minutes away, MOH and I haven’t spent much time in Jackson in years. But since our son recently moved downtown, we’ve been reintroduced to some of the great local business and restaurants, and are checking out some of the events and activities.

Although we did the Bright Walls tour this weekend (because of availability), next weekend – Sept 16 thru 18 is the official event date. Activities include live music, food trucks, a dog parade, local artist painting competition and more!

No, I am not one of the event organizers. LOL I just really enjoyed the murals. If you haven’t been downtown in Jackson lately, I encourage you to check it out, either next week with all the trimmings, or anytime you’re looking for something to do.

This was one of my favorites. Artist Emily Ding of Houston, Texas.

Check out the smart phone app Experience Jackson Tours for more information on the Bright Walls tour as well as some others.
