Have you seen the childhood progression pictures? You know the ones, where the self-disciplined and focused parent takes a picture of their child every year in the same place, next to the same thing, and you see how much Little Johnny has grown and matured each year? Neat idea, right?

When my son was just two months old, I took a picture of him with a little Crayola bunny someone gave him as a first Easter gift.

I didn’t start out with intent, but the next year when I saw the Crayola bunny, I impulsively popped them both into the La-Z-Boy and snapped their picture. I thought it would be fun to start a tradition of taking a picture of Max each year with little Crayola bunny.

After the first couple years, as someone developed his own personality (and I’m not talking about Crayola bunny,) he became less enthralled and cooperative with my picture taking project. Even when I bribed him with a Tootsie Pop, he refused to look at the camera.

As more time went on , we missed a year or a few. But whenever I would see that little Crayola bunny kicking around, I would renew my resolve to make sure I took of picture of them together the next Easter. And I finally did.

The End
